There are actually a large amount of features that ought to be integrated in your acquisition of a rugged, off road mountain bicycle that you doubtless can’t be pleased without. As with any bike, you’ll notice features that could get you over the roads which you intend on going over, but you have to locate them. Getting the quickness and distance out of the bike of your choosing ought to be carried out without having to skimp on the safety. You’ll notice tons of selections to choose from, and with a little study you’ll be able to find the right bicycle designed for your needs.

Mountain bicycles will not be designed for the faint of heart. You won’t find any baskets on the front of these off road warriors. They really are stronger, sturdier and a good deal more heavy than cross country bicycles. They’re meant for the hairpin turns of unexplored territory, and the rough, gravel and dirt paths of long afternoons.

Suspension is a enormous factor to take into account when you are to find the bicycle to go off road with. You absolutely need a bike that is going to handle the inevitable thumps and bumps of unpaved surfaces. A number of the modern bicycle designs have suspensions at both the rear and front of the bike and are of rugged quality.

Of all the distinctive mountain bicycle alternatives, you will likely discover that it will be less complicated to pedal a free ride bike. These are manufactured with stronger and heavier materials and may well weigh as much as 50 pounds. These are perfect for tight maneuvers and getting around obstacles. On account of their weight however, they may be pretty tricky to get around when you are not pushing it with the pedals.

You are able to uncover a ton of extra alternatives. These will include urban and street bikes and the ever popular dirt jumping bikes just to name a few. A large amount of these are just as strong as a free ride bike and may well prove a lot lighter. These selections usually have between one to nines gears, both sets of which (front and rear) have a built in chain guide.

You are all set for the road after you have the perfect gear. Using rugged mountain bicycles takes a sturdy helmet in addition to the right clothing. When you are out in the wide open with the wind in your face, you may be elated that you took the occasion to make the best selection.

Mountain bikes are made for off road and offer the rider an incredible biking experience. These bikes are dependable and tough and can take a pounding on the dirt road or mountain trail. One of the most popular mountain bikes is the Mongoose Bike.

by Barry Johnson

It started in the early 1970s, Bicycle motocross or popularly known as BMX bikes have been used in races and in performing stunts all over the world.

Organizations have been formed to support this type of interest of some people. The National Bicycle League which was formed in 1974 was a non-profit bicycle motocross organization founded by George E. Esser in Florida. In 1977, the ABA (American Bicycle Association) was created to further support the growing sport. Then in 1981, the International BMX Federation was formed wherein they held their very first competition in 1982. Just this 2008, the very first BMX category joined the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing with two categories: one for Male and one for Female. And the very first to won the gold medals were from Latvia and France.

These BMX bikes are a sport for some, but for the rest they just ride them for fun. As a sport, BMX bikes can be expensive since the riders may invest a lot to make their bikes better. A unit can range from $150 to more than $3,000. There are also a few companies who have been manufacturing BMX bikes. To mention a few, we have Schwinn, GT, Haro and the more known to plenty, YAMAHA.

BMX bikes quiet differ from the normal bicycles. They are smaller in built but their wheels are bigger which are better for the riders to use when driving them in bumpy and rough roads. Some companies also manufacture specially designed BMX bikes to cater their customers’ needs.

When showing of stunts, BMX bike riders usually follow what the skateboarders do except they are using these much bigger units compared to the skateboards. BMX bikes are much harder to control since they are heavier as to the skateboards. Practice is a huge part so that there are stunts are delivered perfectly. Others are even getting paid to this. Some compete where they earn recognition in different sectors. For the more professional, they get to hop from cities to cities, to other countries to display their talents.

The more common term to this stunt showcase is called Freestyle riding where riders are allowed to show off their unique talents in riding their BMX bikes up in the air and on the ground illustrating different moves and stunts. Crowds usually are wowed by the excitement being shown by the riders.

BMX bikes can give us the speed, the power and the excitement however we should be aware of the safety measures to be considered. So start joining the thrill of this sport but always be cautious.

Along time ago when I was just a child, I wanted a BMX bike so bad! Santa never brought me one and birthdays came and went too. As a family we struggled financially so I had to make do with a second hand, re painted, black racer bicycle.

I did love that ricketty old bike and indeed was grateful you must understand but I still looked on in envy at all the other BMX bikes. Perhaps because I believed I could fly over the garden, house and beyond at that point made me want one even more. I hadnt grasped the fact that the BMX bikes in the movie E.T. had more than a helping hand in getting them off the ground! Flying over large obstacles in BMX video games didnt seem to compensate.

Of course back in those days the whole BMX thing was brand new and on Christmas mornings the streets seemed to be full of kids zooming up and down pavements, which were littered with crude home made and often dangerous ramps, on their new bicycles, the large majority of which were the phenomena that was to become BMX.

Despite thousands of valiant attempts, no one ever did manage to fly their BMX over the house, although crazy Billy from the next street has the scars to prove he gave it a really good try. We all concluded that E.T must have had some kind of magical powers!

More than 30 years later and although BMX bikes still cannot fly they are still very cool and are more popular than ever. For the first time in its history in 2008 they became a successful part of the Olympic Games in Beijing.

At the 2008 Olympics, racing was the only BMX discipline to take part but with the ever growing popularity of the sport in general, it is only a matter of time before Freestyle is included too.

BMX also has Flatland in its arsenal of disciplines, this too is growing in popularity and as with other forms of BMX riding takes great skill to be a true pro.

With such a variety of styles it is not a surprise to find out just how many different models of BMX there are. Not only does each discipline generally require a different bike with regards to weight and structure but even within the disciplines themselves there are many different models and brands.

Famous riders get bikes designed not only with their name branding it, but often with their own specifications too.

If you are looking for a BMX bike for personal use or for a gift for someone else, never have you been better served by the choice and variety available and there should be no problem finding the one you want.
