There are several different pieces of cardio equipment out there that can help you meet your fitness goals. But which one do you choose? Meeting your goals and doing it safely are the primary criteria when choosing your fat killer. In this article I will focus on the big three. The treadmill, stationary bike and the elliptical machine.

The treadmill is one of the most popular forms of cardio exercise equipment at gyms and fitness centers today. If you walk on the treadmill on a level grade the risk of injury is minimal. But in most cases the rewards are minimal. For starters fewer calories will be burned thus leading to less fat loss. Some extremely obese people, and those with physical issues; will find this to be a high impact exercise, and possibly painful. Slow Walking on a flat treadmill has minimal risks for everyone; but also few rewards as it does not burn enough calories or get the heart rate up enough to significantly reduce body fat.

The obvious way to get the most out of your treadmill workout is to turn on the speed and/ or crank up the incline. You can start with a slow jog or increase the incline and have a brisk walk. When your body gets accustomed to that, try running or running/ jogging at an incline. These are tried and true ways to get the fat burning furnace in your body to turn up the heat. But for a lot of people running just isn’t their thing; especially those with the physical limitations mentioned earlier. So what are they to do? Well, the treadmill is definitely not the only answer to your fat burning needs. read on.

Stationary bikes are another common piece of cardio equipmant being used at gyms today. Stationary cycling has the same pros and cons as riding a bike outside (with the exception of crashing!). I believe cycling is more beneficial than jogging and running because you can burn a lot of calories without the high impact pounding to the knees and back that you get from jogging and running. To a lesser degree however; there is some stress to the knees and back that is generated by intense cycling also.

This brings us to the last piece of equipment we will review in this article. The elliptical machine. This is probably my favorite out of the three. It plays really nice with your back and joints and actually gets more body parts involved if you get on one with the moving handles. It is a very versatile machine as you can adjust ramp, resistance and speed. The risk of injury is almost non existent. For a super low impact, fat burning workout, the elliptical is my top choice.
