It almost goes without saying that anyone who is involved in fitness activities is very aware of how cardio helps strengthen the heart. As the heart gets stronger, it becomes a lot more efficient at pumping blood through the whole body. By using a heart rate monitor during your workouts, you ensure that you are really training properly.

The main purpose of a heart rate monitor is to track heart beats per minute, but a monitor does more than that. When you monitor your heart rate you are able to quickly tell whether you’re working out hard enough or if you need to be more intense.

Heart monitor watches are designed for that purpose.

If you’re into a basic fitness program, you don’t need many more features. It’s when you decide to bump your program to the next level, or to begin training for a specific sport that you do need more features.

When you go about selecting the right heart rate monitor, you’ll need to look at exactly which features you need as well as how much money you plan to spend.

There’s not going to be a one size fits all in these heart monitor watches. But here are some advanced features that are available for you.

Most monitors, despite how complex or basic they are will have a few standard features. These might include a chest strap for measuring the heart rate and then transmitting that information to the wrist watch. There will likely also be a timer and an alarm. The alarm can be set to sound off when you go either above or below your targeted heart rate.

Many advanced monitors keep track of workouts and can be set to monitor progress over a set period of time. This lets you compare results and then fine tune your workouts. It’s a wonderful motivator because you can see how much progress you’ve made from month to month.

A feature popular with many athletes is the personalized training program. With this program, you can login to the company website, upload your training records and then get suggestions to further improve your workouts.

Certain monitors are designed for use with certain types of exercise equipment like treadmills, or exercise bikes. You may want to get a coded monitor if you work out mostly in a gym. That way you can avoid interference from other monitors that are nearby.

For cyclists or runners, the GPS is a must feature. When you use a Global Positioning System, you can track the distance you travel and the speed you’re going. You can even take an alternate route and not worry about figuring out how to get home without having to retrace your steps.

Elite athletes often require more detailed data. Advanced monitors have features to give you all the information you need to track.

For example, you can get a monitor that has an altimeter, a barometer, and a temperature gauge. These features are particularly useful for a distance runner. Monitors to calculate respiratory rate as well as oxygen consumption are also available. These are important endurance metrics.

Choosing to use a heart rate monitor is certainly a very smart decision. It’s such an important yet often overlooked piece of fitness equipment. But if you have one, it will enhance a workout and help you get fit faster. Just be sure that you choose a monitor that has all the features you need.

Specialty heart monitor watches are designed for many different sports and activities. If you are a cyclist you may want to have a look at a cycling heart rate monitor.

There are a good number of factors to think about when making mountain bike tire choices. People must take into consideration the specific tires they are selecting. The size of the items is also something to think about. They must also consider the weight specific tires are intended to handle properly. People must also consider the traction of tires as well.

Each one of these components is equally important in the selection process. Many people make the mistake of only being worried about the visual perception of the tires. This is not in their best interest because this will lead them to not receive the most out of the tires. People must also consider the price of the items in this current economy.

If a person does not know what they are looking for they can ask for assistance from people at the store. There are so many different brands available on the market now it can be overwhelming to make the proper selection. This is not something that the average biker wants to deal with. Sometimes reading the instructions that came with the bike can provide a clue as to the type of tires that should be purchased. Thinking about how much the tires can handle is also extremely important.

Traveling over different types of terrain can make it necessary to buy special tires. Talking with an expert in the area is usually advisable so that the wrong decision is not made. The size of the tires should be a major consideration. If tires are too small the ride will not be even. If the tires are too big they will not hold to the bike properly.

Another consideration to take into account is the size of tires that the frame can handle. Failure to think of all of these issues will be detrimental to the person making the purchase in the long run. This is not something that they should want to have to deal with. The use of the bike is also something that should be brought into a persons mind when selecting specific products. It can be extremely difficult to make the right choice.

Mountain bike tire choices are expanding every year. This is because there are a wide variety of companies trying to capitalize on the interest in the sport. If a person is willing to ask for assistance they can easily find the proper item to use. Finding discounted tires is relatively easy if an individual is willing to search online.

The electric bike kit is a conversion equipment with battery powered electric motor that is used to convert a bicycle to an electric bike. The battery is rechargeable by simply plugging to the main electricity supply. Riding an electric bike is simple. You keep peddling until the electric motor kicks in. Then enjoy a stress free ride.

Personally, I believe that in these times of recession, one ought to prefer buying an electric bike conversion kit rather than opting for a brand new electric bike. This decision hs mant dvntages. One of them is that, this conersion kit is very cheap. Instead of spending a huge amount of money on electric bike, I would simply convert my bicycle to n electric one. I don’t need fuel to power my bike. When it runs down I recharge and ride on.

You also have the freedom to choose from the numerous brands of bicycles depending on your lifestyle. Electric bike manufacturers are few compared to bicycle manufacturers. You can convert your very own bicycle to an electric bike by installing the conversion kit.

A bicycle converted to an electric bike is lighter than an electric bike. You are also used to your bicycle, making riding easier and stress less.

The electric bike is suitable for physical fitness programme. If you want to burn extra calories without stress, just get an electric bike kit and use it for your keep fit exercises. Stress less exercises of this sort can be very effective for the management of some disease conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and arthritis.

The electric bike is a time saving machine for short distance trips. You don’t need to waste time in the traffic, since any available space will get you through. During rush hours you can make use of your electric bike instead of wasting time, fuel and energy using a car. You don’t even need a packing space.

The electric bike kit is more economical compared to a new electric bike. If you already have any kind of bicycle, go ahead and get a conversion kit and enjoy the pleasure of riding.

If you want to buy electric bike kits, hurry and visit Electric-Bike-Kits.net.

If you’re serious about fitness, a heart rate monitor has as much importance as the right pair of shoes. Like shoes, a heart monitor is not a piece of equipment where one size fits all. Women need different monitors than men. The best heart rate monitors for women are different from the best heart rate monitors for men.

Face up to it. Most men are able to comfortably wear a heart monitor watch with chest strap. And they can get accurate readings while wearing it. For a lot of women though, this is challenging.

Chest straps transmit data to the heart monitor watch. They do that when they pick up impulses sent from the heart. They then transmit this information to the watch. A problem can occur when there is not good enough contact with the skin.

Now if you are a relatively flat chested woman, you can probably get that good solid contact between skin and strap. So you will be able to use a monitor with a chest strap.

But for women who have bigger cup sizes, wearing a strap can present problems. To get solid contact with the skin, the strap has to be worn very tightly which can be quite uncomfortable.

If you find yourself in this group, there is another option to the traditional type of heart rate monitor. Strapless heart rate monitors have become increasingly popular, particularly among women. These monitors measure heart rate without having to wear a chest strap.

Reviews on strapless heart rate monitors are mixed. Some experts in the field of fitness feel that they don’t provide as accurate a reading as a traditional monitor. Others feel that the technology is approaching the traditional monitor. They do agree that today’s models are much better than earlier ones.

So if you are unable to wear a traditional heart rate monitor, take a look for a strapless model that has high recommendations and is made by a company specializing in heart monitors. You’ll find there are quite a few different designs in strapless heart monitors.

Many strapless monitors are worn on the wrist. Others may have a ring sensor that you wear on your finger. Still other models have a strap that is worn around the upper arm. Finally there are strapless monitors that can be held in the hand.

With a wrist heart rate monitor, for example, there are generally one or two sensors on the watch. Putting your finger on a sensor allows it to collect and display the data on the watch.

It’s hard to say what the best heart rate monitors for women are. Two of the most important factors are accuracy and comfort. Without these you may not use it anyway.

Whether you are a serious athlete or a casual exerciser, heart monitor watches can help you boost performance and improve fitness levels. Although monitors are designed to be worn by anyone, women may be more comfortable wearing a wrist heart rate monitor.

At one time, heart rate monitors were mainly used by physicians or nurses to keep track of a patient’s heart rate. It’s all different today. Now. people who are concerned with their health use a monitor because it helps them track their own heart health. Today heart monitors are also used by athletes in many sports or activities to help improve performance.

Heart rate monitors may also referred to as cardiac monitors. Basically, a heart monitor is a piece of electronic equipment used to observe or track various heart functions while the monitor is worn.

When used medically, heart monitors help doctors track a patient’s heart function over a specified period of time. Using this data, they can then compare what they find out and modify the treatment plans if required.

Heart rate monitors are no longer limited to only medical uses. Heart monitors are used by athletes who are involved in a lot of different sports or activities. Each specific model includes specific features depending on the activity it’s being used for.

For instance, some monitors have been designed to be used alongside a weight loss program. There are also heart rate monitors that can be used in fitness programs or by athletes.

The majority of heart monitors have two parts; one part transmits information and the other part receives information. Most heart rate monitors come with a strap that is to be worn around the chest. It’s important for the strap to fit snugly in order to get accurate readings. On the inside of the strap is the device used to detect the electrical activity of the heart.

Readings are transmitted to the watch part of the monitor which is usually worn on the wrist for easy viewing. These heart monitor watches display the readings and then store them for future reference.

There is no doubt that heart rate monitors using chest straps do give the most accurate results, but some people are not able to wear them comfortably. You do have an alternative to this type of monitor.

Strapless heart rate monitors allow you to closely monitor your heart even without wearing a chest strap. The wrist heart rate monitor is designed so that the sensors that are located on the watch do the work that would normally take place through the strap. Simply place your finger on the sensor and the reading will show up on the watch.

Heart rate monitors continue to become more and more popular, as more and more people start using them. Whether you want to monitor your heart rate for medical purposes, or you’d just like to get more out of your workout, heart monitor watches can come in handy.

Whether you are a serious athlete or a casual exerciser, heart monitor watches can help boost performance and improve fitness levels.

BMX are ideal for people who love extreme sports but also for people who want to get around quickly whether it be in the city or off road. Before you buy one there are a few things you will want to know about these speedy little bikes.

A BMX bike can be enjoyed by people of all ages and are specifically designed for those who love the thrill of, off road riding, riding ramps and performing stunts on their bikes. BMX bikes are easy to manoeuvre and can be ridden around cities, on dirt tracks and are the ideal bikes for riding on ramps.

The important thing about choosing a BMX is to have one with a light frame, but also it must be made using a durable metal. The diamondback viper bmx is a perfect example of this. It’s frame is made from the Hi-ten steel which can take a battering but is extremely light weight . Thus allowing you to move around with ease to perform stunts and also perfect for the popular sport of BMX racing, as the light frames give you the ability to build up speed quickly.

The distinguishing features of BMX’s are, aside from the frame of a BMX being a lot smaller than other bikes they normally only have one gear and the tires are similar to mountain bikes as opposed to conventional road bikes, as they have a deep tread and they are normally around 20inches in diameter. BMXs also only have one brake on the rear of the bike this is to prevent accidents from occurring when only the front brake is used to slow down.

BMX racing and stunt performing is a sport loved by adults and children alike. It’s popularity has increased recently with it becoming an Olympic sport in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The majority of western cities nowadays have bike ramps and parks designed for BMX bikes. Having a BMX is extremely appealing as this hobby is accessible to everyone, as you can travel around easily, and cheaply and have hours upon hours of excitement practicing tricks and riding your bike.

Riding and using a BMX gives you the flexibility to ride on and off road and you will have a great time discovering all the tricks you can do and will be sure to meet other BMX enthusiasts at one of the many bike parks.

To find out more about BMX and to learn about a great brand of BMX bikes read diamondback viper bmx

If you are taking a long ride on your bicycle this weekend with friends go for a relaxing tour of back roads and enjoy the scenery. You have to take an ample supply of fresh water in order to keep up your strength and stay focused. Water will be the most important item to carry with you. Don’t forget that the human body needs to be replenished with water to stay saturated at about 85%.

Research shows that a 50 to 60 mile bike run burns an average of 4000 calories depending on how fit you are and how hot the day is. There is more energy spent on hot days than mild or cools days. If you are traveling on hills or mountain trails, you will burn more energy than biking over level, even ground. Either way, you will require to pack enough water to take care of your needs.

Studies have found that most bikers will need a minimum of 2 quart bicycle water bottles to satisfy their thirst on a sixty mile trip. Two quarts is just a recommendation and it is a good idea to add several more bottles if you are going on a longer trip. Often, long distance bicycle trekkers, when traveling over several days, will wear water systems in back packs. Some solo endurance bike riders, when traveling over very long distances, carry their own back pack water systems and will sport water bottles as extra water sources.

There are different sizes of water storage systems available for your safe travels. The can range from 60 to 100 liter back packs. The larger 100 liter packs need extra stabilizing support because of the water’s weight. Most of these systems come with adjustable waist straps to help keep them in place. One never will regret bring another bottle of water on your bike trek. However, how do you know you have enough water?

Often, if you are thirsty, or experiencing cotton mouth, you are probably in a mild state of dehydration. You can determine your water saturation point simply by noting the color of your urine. Is it clear? If it is, you are probably drinking enough water. If your urine is dark or cloudy, you should step up your water intake.

After as soon as ten minutes of dehydration, the body can develop muscle cramping. General fatigue and irrational fear can follow the onset of this cramping. This condition can develop into diminished strength and loss of complex motor skills if left untended.

So before you take to the highway with your cycling buddies for that long road trip, check your maps, your repair kits and don’t forget to pack plenty of good old H2O in your bicycle water bottle.

Larry Wildems has been cycling for mostof his 26 years. He has taken and led many long ride bicycle treks across the USA and Europe. He has traveled through some of the countries of Central America and is planning a cycling tour across parts of China. You can find out more about sports water bottles and water delivery systems, bicycles and cycling accessories at his website: http://www.bicyclewaterbottle.net

If you'd like to cycle to work and not have the worry of where to leave your bike securely, or if you want a means of exercise and transport that doesn't take up lots of space at home, fold up bikes could just be perfect for you.

by Irvin Pitstock

If you’d like to cycle to work and not have the worry of where to leave your bike securely, or if you want a means of exercise and transport that doesn’t take up lots of space at home, fold up bikes could just be perfect for you.

If you have to use public transport regularly as part of your journey fold up bikes make perfect sense. As train companies reduce the number of bikes allowed on trains a fold up bike gets around the problem. The weight of folding bikes is is being reduced and the folding action is getting simpler all the time. It is also possible to store a fold up bike discreetly under a desk at work.

Fold up bikes aren’t a very good idea for long distances or touring but they are great if your journey is quite short. Many fold up bikes now have gears and they are comfortable and convenient to ride, as well as being easy and quick to fold down when you get to where you’re going. They also deal with the issue of storage in small houses and flats without garages or a shed.

When summer gets nearer and the weather gets warmer most of us start to try and spend more and more time outside. Our thoughts also turn to exercise and fitness as we worry about our bodies being more on display in the summer!

Cycling is an excellent way to exercise outside, as well as a useful mode of environmentally friendly transport. However, plans of cycling everywhere possible are sometimes made difficult by thoughts of where to leave your bike on arrival. This is where fold up bikes have the advantage over ordinary non-folding bikes.

Storing a fold up bike is no problem at all, as you can just fold it up and take it with you. You never have to worry about finding a place to leave it safely, or think about how secure it will be if you leave it outside unwatched. You just have to fold it up into it’s compact form and take it in with you.

Fold up bike manufacturers have recently dealt with the image of fold up bikes being uncool and there are now lots of funky new designs from leading names available.

Since their initial design fold up bikes have come a very long way and now use innovative and funky designs, and trendy colours alongside their original practical usage and storage advantages. Fold up bikes are now a credible alternative to conventional bikes with the benefits of being able to take them anywhere and store them safely.

If you have purchased a mountain bike, the important thing is to understand how to be able to tune up your own mountain bike parts. Some of them particularly you will like to know tune up are discussed here. You have to just keep up general maintenance.

Here we start with the chain. In case the chain of your bike needs grease on it then grease it. If the chain simply needs to be adjusted, this can be easily done by tightly pulling on the chain and then counting 20 links. Then measure the chain with ruler from pin to pin. If chain increased longer then 10 inches, then it is most likely to be changed with new chain.

If there is no problem with chain’s length, then clean it like a new one. The chain can be cleaned with some sort of citrus solvent and an old toothbrush. Rub and lubricate it as much as you believe you need to. Check out the bent teeth of chain while tuning up chain. If some teeth are bent, then an adjustable wrench can be used to straighten these teeth.

If you want to get the parts of your mountain bike in shape like the wheel and the breaks, there are some other things to keep in your mind. To check the wheels and breaks, simply apply the front brakes while rolling the bike upward and backward. While doing this play should not be occurred. If there is a play then you might need to tight the headset after loosing the bolts.

It is very simple to check the hubs. All you required is to push the front wheel harder enough to make it spin more or less two to three times. As much as the wheel spins freely, your bike is in good shape. Carefully check and make sure that there is no lateral movement as wheel spins.

If you generally want to know that how to keep your bike tuned up, stand at front of your bike and check the loose bolts and tighten them. In routine riding bolts come loose by the passage of time. Also check the other parts like bottle cage and the chain ring bolts.

Lubrication is very important to your bike, coat grease slightly and when you do this cleans it immediately. Also lubricate the front suspension for sliders. After doing this, take a moment to clean out grit that might be lodged next to the seal.
